ALL-ABOUT-YOU Kites in 2022! ~ Final 2022 Camp Dates TBD

This is a unique enrichment and experiential learning experience for high school youth. In Kites, each child learns to build the spine and cross spar, bridles, lines and tails and creates their kite’s sail, resulting in a kite that is unique to them. They are taught how to screenprint (silkscreen) and transfer the design onto the sail material themselves. Our kite builders meet multiple times to design, build and test-fly their kite. The Kites program culminates in a kite-flying event with elements of competition and collaborative free play. Families are invited to the Final Fly event which includes a picnic. The participants take their new skills and kites home with them at the conclusion of this event.

GO FISH! ~ Final 2022 Camp Dates TBD (Public Schools Summer Break Period)

This is an exciting 4-hour fishing camp at Klineline Pond for 12 to 19-year-olds. Instruction is provided by a master fisherman with the assistance of fishing enthusiasts. The camp covers relevant ichthyology including fish sense footsteps through vibration, pond fish prefer to swim near a grassy shore and fish will shelter in the deepest water as temperatures rise. Participants learn to safely use a frog rod, sinkos and a variety of spinnerbaits (lures). Once they grasp these best bank fishing techniques, they are well-equipped for a successful fishing experience. The 11.9 acre pond is fully stocked, so youth can expect to catch at least one of ten types of game fish all summer. Also included is a picnic lunch and several organized play activities encouraging social connection. Equipment, snacks, drinks and meals are provided without cost. If needed, local transportation can be arranged. New fishermen keep their fishing rod.
